Bach Flower Essences

First, I would like to say that I am in no form a doctor or licensed for giving any prescriptions of any sort. However, I am passionate about Bach Flower Essences and would like to share my knowledge with hopes of helping others in search of healing using Integrative options. In using Bach there is absolutely no medical knowledge required, the mind is the most sensitive part of our body and will be the best guide to tell us what remedies that are needed.

The only thing that should be understood about Bach Flower Essence is that the “mother” bottle is combined using alcohol. So, if you are trying to avoid alcohol, this is something that may be of concern.

Origin of Bach Flower Essences

I first learned of Bach nearly 2 years ago. Not understanding what it is or its abilities, I did not entertain its use, until Fall 2017 at which I decided to take a course that would help me to understand its depth of use.

Edward Bach was a highly successful bacteriologist, pathologist and homeopathic physician in 1933. At the age of 43, gave up his medical practice and devoted the last 6 years of his life to developing a simpler and more natural form of treatment. A treatment that would not require anything to be destroyed or altered within our bodies.

Bach believed that all illnesses could not be cured by focusing on the body itself because the origin of disease was not material. Bach believed that “all illness is a result of conflict between the soul and mind.” To treat illness in any other way would be superficial and temporary.

Bach’s understanding from his homeopathic training was that water could hold the essence of a plant. His question was, if the dew on a plant would also hold the essence of a plant? He decided to begin his study of his theory by testing all his remedies on himself, to see what affects they have before testing on others.

How To Use Bach Flower Essences

Bach is homeopathic like remedies they are made from non-poisonous safe flowers and plants. There are 38 in a complete kit. Of this kit, 37 are single remedies, and one is a combination of remedies. Each of the 38 flower essences’ is for specific emotions.

These flowers are collected at the most calculated times, and placed in pans of spring water that either sit in the sun for 3-4 hours or are boiled for half an hour and then allowed to cool. The liquid is then strained off and put into one-liter brown bottles, mixed half and half with brandy, which gives us our mother tincture. Next, 2 drops of the mother tincture are placed into one ounce of brandy. This is known as the stock bottle that you would purchase from the store.

Understanding Bach Flower Essence

To understand Bach Flower Essences is to know that they can be of no harm to anyone. Due to Bach’s energetic nature, it does not conflict with or interfere with any medications. Each of these remedies is pure and harmless, there is no need to worry about doses of too much or too often. Nor do you need to worry that the remedy you have chosen may not be correct. If the remedy is meant for you, it will do as it says it can help with. If the remedy does not affect you in any way, no worries of harm, as you just need to try another remedy that best suits your concerns.

Bach Flower Essences can be found in most health food stores or can also be ordered online. There are many other Flower Essence companies that carry the 38 essences of Bach as well as many of their own flower essences. One of which is known as the Flower Essence Society, or FES, which carries hundreds of different flower essences.  In my opinion and a lot of research, I feel most comfortable with both companies and use them in my home and suggest them to my family as remedies.
